When a top-secret program attempted to recreate the original Weapon X experiment that created Wolverine, the scientists involved failed to secure a test subject that could survive the bonding of the virtually unbreakable metal adamantium to their skeleton. Using the only available genetic sample from Weapon X, which was damaged, they were unable to salvage the Y chromosome after 22 attempts. Raised in captivity, X-23 was trained to be a weapon.

Sabretooth's primary mutant power is an accelerated healing ability that allows him to regenerate damaged or destroyed areas of his body far beyond the capabilities of an ordinary human. He also possesses vastly enhanced animalistic strength, speed and agility, and razor sharp claws on each hand.

As Magneto's number one operative, she's a committed champion of the mutant cause. She fervently believes in Magneto's vision for the future, for she too has witnessed the dark side of humanity and how it deals with those who are different. Mystique is a mutant shapeshifter who can make herself look like any human, humanoid, or semi-humanoid being, male or female, copying every detail including retina, fingerprints, and voice pattern.
